This session invites the nominated professionals for the MIRAGE Awards to explore their methods, approaches and ways of working as artists, in the collaborative art of cinema. This year we focus on cinematography and sound design and have a fantastic lineup of guests coming to Oslo from all over the world.

A masterclass on the visual Soundscapes in The Eclipse / Formørkelsen, by Svenn Jakobsen.  Jakobsen is a Senior Sound Designer at Teknopilot and an Associate Professor in Sound Design at Westerdals Oslo ACT. He is also the Sound designer of The Eclipse, which premieres at MIRAGE 2022, and he is nominated for the MIRAGE  Sound Design Award.

This year, in line with our ambition to promote the work and craft of making cinema, MIRAGE launches our Roundtable discussions section. Each year we invite filmmakers and professionals who are nominated for our festival awards, representing sound design, cinematography, editing and directing.  For MIRAGE 2022, our focus is on Cinematography and Sound Design. For the roundtable discussions, we put together a group of the nominated professionals to discuss their methods of working, approach and ideology of their work.

A conversation with world-renowned and multi-Oscar-winning Sir Roger Deakins on his brand new first book of photographs, Byways. 

The conversation digs deep into his life and ways of being a photographer, and the differences and similarities to being a cinematographer and photographer. How do personality and your own style and artistic vision shine through in the collaborative art of cinema, compared to the often lonely process of being a still photographer?
