Hilal Baydarov has created his films almost entirely on his own. Since 2018, he has directed, shot, edited, and largely produced an impressive ten feature films, which have premiered in Venice's main competition, won the top prize at IDFA, and earned three awards at Locarno, among other accolades. His unwavering dedication to the art of cinema, coupled with his creative productivity and unique approach to filmmaking, is truly inspiring.
Tommaso Santambrogio, having closely collaborated with legends Werner Herzog and Lav Diaz, premiered his first feature film, Oceans Are the Real Continents. This visual masterpiece offers a painterly portrait of a timeless Cuba and showcases Santambrogio's modern filmmaking approach, where every detail of the location and setting takes center stage.
Paul Tunge has an impressive 11 films to his name and is currently completing his seventh feature fiction film, shot on a micro/non-budget. All of his films have been made outside the traditional "system" and without support from the Norwegian Film Institute. Still he is widely considered one of the the top Norwegian directors, always with an uncompromising and original tone to his films.
