Original title: Miesten vuoro Year: 2010 Duration: 81 min. Country of Production: Finland, Estonia, Norway, Sweden Language: Finnish Cinematographers: Heikki Färm, Jani Kumpulainen Sound Designer: Christian Christensen Directors: Joonas Berghäll, Mika Hotakainen Editor: Timo Peltola Producer: Joonas Berghäll

Similar to Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, which is also featured in this year's MIRAGE lineup, STEAM OF LIFE is a tender tale about the importance of friendship, closeness, and compassion. Despite the cliché of Finnish rugged, reticent, and seemingly not-so-tender male culture, the film shows another side of the Nordic man. The sauna simply opens people up and brings forth a naked and tender man, a safe zone where one can speak about problems, and share secrets and challenges, with friends. Even though it has some heartbreaking scenes this is simply a hysterically funny film, tragicomic and tragic at the same time. It is a film that stays with you, with unforgettable moments of real-life events that overgoes any fiction. In light of the blossoming sauna culture in Norway, this film will never go out of style and will continue to warm its audience forever.
