Variations of writing on various surfaces; on rock, on paper, in negative and in revealed invisible writing . Two superimposed projections create a flow of repeating actions; creating and uncreating, writing and erasure, colour and blackness.
The piece is interspersed with readings from the poem/text. A soundscape created live by the performer through manipulation of cassette machines with synth, contact mics, guitar pick ups, percussive stones and bells. All performed simultaneously by the performative cinema legend Greg Pope.
Biography:
After dabbling in punk rock bands and absurdist performance, Greg Pope founded film collective ‘Situation Cinema’ (Brighton 1986) and ‘Loophole Cinema’ (London, 1989).
Working collaboratively and individually, since 1996, Pope has made video installations, live cinema performance, single screen film works, slide projection performance, sound/percussion pieces, vitrines and speaker installations.
These works include many collaborations working with sound artists such as Lee Paterson, John Hegre, Lasse Marhaug and Okkyung Lee and bands including Sult and Ich Bin N!ntendo.
Pope has performed at festivals and events in Europe, North and South America and Australia.
