All children are our children.
Amro al-Attar from Gaza was only three years old. He is one of now over 20,000 children who have been killed by Israel — just during this latest, ongoing war.
We refuse to let the children disappear from history as part of an anonymous statistic.
The ongoing genocide has stripped the people of Gaza of nearly everything — including the possibility of a dignified burial, and the ability to carry out traditional mourning rituals.
That is why we now invite you to Wake for Gaza III, where we will collectively return to one of the oldest cultural pillars of human history: the funeral and mourning ritual.
Each one of the 18,500 children killed between October 2023 and July 2025 will be acknowledged and honored by reading and making their names visible.
This ritual will continue until every name has been read — which will take just under four full days.
Four days to insist on equality, human rights, and safety for all.
Four days to mark resistance against the ongoing genocide.
Four days to mourn in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The wake begins Monday, October 6 at 18:00.
From then until Thursday, October 9 at 12:00, the reading will continue without pause.
The reading will be streamed live in collaboration with #HeleNorgeLeserForGaza (organized by Katrin Glatz Brubakk).
Open to the public daily between 11:00 and 23:00.
A book of condolences will be available and will be handed over to Palestinian authorities.
Would you like to do more than just attend?
You are warmly invited to take part in the reading!
Learn more and fill out [this form] with your name, email, and the time slots you are available — no later than September 30.
