Anachronism

The video installation Anachronism (2015–20) collages found footage from Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) in the 1940s and 50s as a response to Greenlandic narratives defined by outsider perspectives.

Inuuteq Storch (b. 1989) is a photographer and artist from Sisimiut, Kalaallit Nunaat. A graduate of the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York and the Fatamorgana School of Photography in Copenhagen, his work combines family archives, personal narratives, and documentary observations. In 2024, Storch represented Denmark at the 60th Venice Biennale, as the first Greenlandic artist. His work is currently exhibited at MoMA PS1, New York, and previous exhibitions venues include the Sharjah Art Biennial; Buffalo AKG Art Museum; Akureyri Art Museum, Iceland; Frankfurt Ray Triennale; FOFA Gallery, Montreal; and Center for Photography, Copenhagen, among others.

The screening at Mirage is an extract from Inuuteq Storch’s upcoming exhibition at FRAKT (previously Fotografihuset) at Sukkerbiten, opening the first weekend in November. The group exhibition A gust of wind wakes us from our slumber presents four Nordic artists exploring the circumpolar North, including Inuuteq Storch (Greenland), Henrik Saxgren (Denmark), Julie Lauritzen (Norway), and Marius Eriksen (Norway).
